Influenced by my upbringing in Japan, I'm passionate about the intersection of good design and new technologies. When I'm not working, you'll find me making espresso drinks, watercoloring, modeling 3D products, or tinkering with gadgets to capture new digital media perspectives. With over twenty-five years of experience on the cutting edge of design and technology, I've had the opportunity to lead teams of creative problem solvers: designers, developers, researchers, and entrepreneurs. As a visionary leader, I have guided my teams to invent new products and services, crafted innovative solutions for some of the most well-known publishers and brands in the world, and ultimately touched the lives of millions of consumers worldwide. I also believe in the philosophy of wearing many hats and have been known to personally dive into a problem space as an individual contributor.
In addition to creating and motivating design organizations, to effectively lead as a design executive I have collaborated closely with the cross-functional teams that span large companies with critical skill sets such as product management, engineering, and marketing. Without such collaborations, the innovative design-forward concepts of my design organizations would not have had the opportunity to touch the lives of so many.
As a result of the combination of these abilities, I have become a valuable member of executive teams as corporate directions, priorities, and acquisitions were vetted. With my support, executive teams were able to visualize the choices being made to more effectively assess opportunities. My voice at the executive table brought a design and innovation perspective that led companies to consider new business models and adopt new product directions with success.
While my work in the past spanned B2B, B2C, consumer, and creatives, I am particularly passionate about the opportunity to do meaningful work that touches the lives of individuals. I look forward to blending my skills in innovation, design, leadership, digital media, and strategy in an effort to improve the digital products we use everyday in our careers and our personal lives, because experience matters.
